Rapid-Response Craftsman in the Bernese Oberland: When to Call, What It Costs, How Fast We Come

Short answer: We come fast when water, electricity, heating or facade puts you in a tight spot — within 30-60 minutes in Thun, Gstaad, Saanen, Schönried, Spiez and Zweisimmen. Flat rate CHF 180 including diagnosis, hourly work from CHF 145/hr. For life safety: call 117 (police), 118 (fire) or 144 (medical) first — then us.

In the Bernese Oberland there are situations where you don't need an appointment in two weeks, you need help in the next hour. A burst water pipe in your chalet while you're in Zurich. A heating failure on Sunday evening at -15 °C. A blown fuse in the middle of dinner. A storm has loosened a facade plank. Here are honest answers about our rapid-response craftsman service.

When should you call our rapid response?

Plumbing emergency

  • Water leak, water ingress, water damage
  • Boiler failure (no hot water)
  • Blocked main drain (WC won't drain)
  • Frozen pipes in winter (frost rupture imminent)
  • Defective heating system in winter (dangerous for the building)

Electrical emergency

  • Power loss in the house or individual rooms
  • Residual current device (RCD/FI) won't reset
  • Smoke or burning smell from sockets or switchboard
  • Water ingress into electrical installation
  • Defective EV charger / wallbox

Facade and structural emergency

  • Storm damage, loose facade planks, broken roof tiles
  • Water ingress through the roof after storm
  • Damaged windows (broken, leaking after storm)
  • Loose wooden elements at risk of falling

When NOT to call us — call the official emergency number first

For life safety, always call the official emergency number first:

  • 117 — Police (intrusion, threat)
  • 118 — Fire brigade (fire, fire suspicion, acute smoke, gas)
  • 144 — Medical (medical emergencies, injury)
  • 1414 — Rega (mountain rescue, helicopter)

If the fire brigade extinguishes with water, contact us afterwards for the renovation. With gas smell, leave the building immediately and call 118 — do not flip switches or turn on lights.

How fast are we on site?

Our realistic response times in key locations:

  • Saanen, Gstaad, Schönried: 15-30 minutes (our main location)
  • Lenk, Zweisimmen, St. Stephan: 30-60 minutes
  • Thun, Spiez, Steffisburg, Hilterfingen: 45-75 minutes
  • Rougemont, Château-d'Oex: 30-50 minutes
  • Bern, Burgdorf, Interlaken: 60-90 minutes (on request)

What does an emergency call cost?

Emergency flat rate CHF 180 — includes travel, initial diagnosis and immediate help (e.g. shut off water, reset fuse, secure facade plank, check boiler, establish frost protection). This already covers about 70 % of simple cases.

Subsequent hourly work: CHF 145/hr during business hours (Mon-Fri 07:00-18:00, Sat 08:00-16:00), CHF 195/hr nights and Sundays. Materials at cost plus 10 % handling.
